Migrants from Manipur in Assam

Due to the clash between tribals and members of the majority Meitei community in Manipur have led the tribal community flee from their own native state leaving their homes and properties.

The community has fled towards Assam in Cachar district and for now they have settled there for safety purpose.

On Friday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through a tweet informed about the incident and also informed about supporting the refugees. Sarma tweeted, “Several families affected by the recent incidents in Manipur have sought refuge in Assam. I have requested the District Administration of Cachar to take care of these families. I am also in constant communication with the HCM @NBirenSingh and have pledged the full support of the Assam Government during this hour of crisis.”

On Thrusday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held two meetings over video-conferencing and spoke with the Chief Ministers of Manipur and neighbouring states over the situation in the northeastern state.

For now situation is not under good condition especially for the Kuki community, the migrants fled to Cachar district, Assam for safety.
