Meghalaya Cabinet to set up outpost at 7 locations

On Tuesday, the Meghalaya Cabinet approved a proposal to set up seven outposts due to the violence-torn Mukroh village along the state’s border with Assam.

The decision was taken after six people were killed in the violence that broke out in Assam-Meghalaya on November 22.

“The Cabinet has approved the proposal to set up seven BOPs across the Khasi Jaintia Hills region. Of these outposts, two will be set up at Mukroh and Tihvih villages on the inter-state border in West Jaintia Hill district,” Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said.

Sangma said his government has directed the state director general of police to visit a few villages in the disputed border area and submit a report.
