In a major crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, Assam Rifles and Bualpui Police seized a massive consignment of Methamphetamine tablets worth an estimated ₹54 crore in Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district. One Myanmar national has been arrested in connection with the case.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security forces launched an operation on April 12 in the general area of Siachangkawn. The raid resulted in the recovery of approximately 17.946 kilograms—equivalent to 1,80,000 tablets—of the highly addictive narcotic.
According to an official statement, the arrested individual and the seized contraband have been handed over to the Bualpui Police Outpost for further legal action. Authorities said the bust underscores the growing threat of drug trafficking along the India-Myanmar border and reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling such networks. This is one of the largest seizures in the region in recent months.
