Manipur Govt Assures Full Support for Imphal–Jiribam Railway Project, Target 2028 Completion

The Manipur government has assured full support for the completion of the railway project that will connect Imphal with the national railway network. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said the state government will extend all necessary help so that the project can be completed on time.The assurance was given during a meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Friday night. Officials of the Northeast Frontier Railway met the chief minister and briefed him on the progress of the Imphal–Jiribam railway line. The railway delegation was led by Ashish Bansal, General Manager (Construction) of Northeast Frontier Railway, Maligaon.

According to officials, the Imphal–Jiribam railway line is one of the most important infrastructure projects in Manipur. The railway line will cover a distance of about 111 kilometres and is estimated to cost more than Rs 22,000 crore. The project is expected to be completed and made operational by the year 2028.After the meeting, the chief minister shared details about the discussion and said the railway project is very important for the development of the state. He said the railway line will help improve transport facilities and strengthen connectivity between Manipur and the rest of the country.Singh said the project will also help in improving the supply of essential goods and make the movement of materials easier and safer. According to him, better railway connectivity will benefit both the people and businesses in the state.

“The government remains fully committed to extending all necessary support to ensure the timely completion of this vital project for the progress and prosperity of Manipur,” the chief minister said.He also said the project will help improve the overall ease of living for people in Manipur and will support the larger development vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
