The Assam Rifles has registered a sedition and defamation case in Manipur. And the FIR was lodged in the Churachandpur police station.

According to the sources, the FIR was lodged against the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), a civil society body of the state’s Meitei community as the people were asked to surrender the looted weapons from the Police stations.

Further, various civil society organizations have alleged that many women protesters were assaulted on different occasions by the Army and Assam Rifles.

However, Defense sources have denied the allegations made by the people there. And the Assam Rifles have claimed that the protesters are trying to create obstacles while performing their duties amidst the violence in the state, Manipur.
