Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), inaugurated a three-day hands-on workshop on 3D bioprinting for biomedical applications at Manipal Centre for Biotherapeutics Research. The workshop is the first of its kind in Manipal, focusing on G code generation, 3D structure design, and 3D bioprinting software.
Dr. Sharath K Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor of Health Sciences at MAHE, discussed 3D printed bone implants for orthopaedic applications and hoped for its widespread application in medical and food industries. He noted the rapidly growing 3D printing of meat. Sumant Bhutoria, CEO of Alfatek Systems, discussed 3D bioprinting’s importance in healthcare. Dr. Anil Kumar from Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Science & Technology, Trivandrum, and other resource persons from Switzerland and Finland will deliver online talks.
