Manipal Hospital champions breast cancer awareness in Aizawl, spotlight survivorship and advanced care

Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, hosted a Breast Cancer Champions’ Meet in Aizawl, celebrating the resilience of breast cancer survivors and highlighting advancements in treatment. With one in 20 Indian women at risk of breast cancer and Mizoram showing a high incidence rate, the event emphasized early detection, timely treatment, and holistic care. The program was presided over by Dr. Pooja Agarwal, Consultant – Surgical Oncology, and Dr. Aadil Adnan, Head of Nuclear Medicine, who discussed the latest innovations in diagnostics and tailored treatment plans.

Dr. Agarwal stated, “Early detection and treatment have dramatically improved survival rates. Programs like this build strong support networks, reminding women they are not alone.” Dr. Adnan added, “Combining technology with compassionate care allows each patient to receive optimum treatment and confidence in overcoming cancer.” Survivors, including Juliet Lalruatmawii Ralte, Lalruatfeli, and Zonunmawii, shared their journeys of diagnosis, treatment, and hope, demonstrating the transformative impact of specialized medical intervention.

In Aizawl, the meet reflects rising demand for advanced oncological care among Mizoram residents. Patients increasingly travel outside the state to access specialized diagnostics and treatment, strengthening ties with leading hospitals like Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, and signaling growth opportunities in medical outreach, awareness programs, and health-focused community initiatives. Aligned with WHO’s theme, “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” the event reinforced the importance of screenings, awareness, and personalized care in improving outcomes for breast cancer patients.
