Manik Saha unveils plan to hire top educators for coaching centres

In a major move to improve the quality of education, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday announced plans to bring in top teachers from outside the state to teach critical subjects like English, mathematics, physics, and biology. Speaking at public programmes in Teliamura and Kalyanpur in Khowai district, Dr. Saha said the initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce students’ reliance on private tuitions. “We are planning coaching centres in every subdivision, as proposed in the state budget. Since local teachers may not be available for these centres, tenders will be floated to engage top-quality educators from outside,” he said.

The Chief Minister stressed that systematic coaching would relieve students from academic stress and the daily rush for private classes. Additionally, Dr. Saha announced the construction of a ₹15 crore examination hall at Hapania in West Tripura to support students and job aspirants who currently travel out of state for exams.

Addressing concerns over teacher shortages, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to recruitment. He also claimed over 17,000 regular jobs have been provided during BJP’s tenure and assured more employment opportunities in the pipeline.
