Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has directed the Forest Department to conduct a comprehensive study on the extinction of vultures in the state. The order was issued during a State Wildlife Board review meeting at the Secretariat Conference Hall.
Saha emphasized the need for urgent conservation measures and urged officials to explore solutions to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts, particularly rising incidents involving wild elephants. The Chief Minister also stressed the promotion of eco-tourism, proposing elephant safaris in national parks and sanctuaries to attract both domestic and international tourists. He highlighted that such initiatives could boost employment opportunities for tribal communities and strengthen Tripura’s economy.
Additionally, Saha called for public participation in tourism development and ensuring an adequate food supply for elephants to reduce conflicts with human settlements.
