Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday lauded Tripura’s advancements in healthcare, education, and welfare during a programme at Mandwi Mandal’s Mailuma School ground. Saha detailed strides in medical services, including free kidney transplants, with plans to introduce bone marrow and liver transplants soon. Highlighting medical education, he noted that around 400 doctors graduate annually from state medical colleges. Tripura Medical College, currently with 100 seats, has applied for an additional 50 seats to meet growing demand.
“Super speciality services have been established with Rs 250 crore, and Rs 700 crore has been earmarked for new hospitals,” Saha said, adding that these projects aim to reduce reliance on other states for advanced treatments.
The Chief Minister credited the Act East Policy for catalyzing development in the state. He also underscored Tripura’s welfare achievements, including a surge in self-help groups from 4,000 to 56,000 and the transparent allocation of over 13,000 government jobs.
