According to officials, the 700-year-old Mangleshwar Bhairav Temple in the centre of Srinagar city, which was severely damaged by floods in 2014, is now being restored by the Jammu and Kashmir administration. They added that the project’s estimated cost is Rs 1.62 core and that work on it began in June 2022 with an expected completion date of next month. “It has been there for about 700 years. Its importance is widely known. With the September 2014 floods, some cracks appeared. In order to revive, restore, preserve, and maintain architecture and cultural heritage, we took it up last year.” Muhammad Aijaz Asad is the Srinagar Deputy Commissioner.
