Aviation industry like no other industries charges heavy cancellation fee which results into the frustration amongst the passengers. The same incident occurred with an IAS officer Rahul Kumar from Bihar cadre, when he cancelled his flight ticket because of personal reasons and had to bear a hugs cost of cancellation and negligible refunds.
The officer shared a screenshot on his Twitter account and wrote, “Pls suggest some good investment plans for my refund.” The screenshot reveals that he has booked a flight ticket costing rupees 13,820 after getting a discount of rupees 1,138. But after cancelling the ticket he received rupees 20 as a refund.
After sharing the screenshot it got 1,100 likes and comment section got filled with the reaction of the citizens.
“With this kind of liquidity you will need extra security sir,” IFS officer Parveen Kaswan wrote. “Donate it to a charity and claim tax returns!” suggested a user. “I don’t process the refund in these cases. Let the seat get wasted .. rather than the airline selling it again to some other passenger,” another person wrote. “I m not very good at economics but can suggest for remaining huge amount which you can donate to some needy person, his/her blessings will certainly outperform any investment,” another user expressed.
