‘Maimizial’ clinches first prize in Mizo Short Film Competition

The Mizo Short Film Competition 2026 award ceremony took place in Aizawl, organized by the Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Directorate and the Mizoram Film Development Committee. Raymond Colney’s film ‘Maimizial’ secured the first prize, followed by ‘Zualtei Pa’ and ‘Nunna’ with the second and third prizes, respectively. Consolation prizes were awarded to ‘Chanchinbumi’, ‘Noodles Soup’, ‘Vindicta’, ‘The Unforgiven Silence’, and ‘Thangthawvenga’. A total of 41 short films, each 10–15 minutes long, were submitted and evaluated by judges before winners were announced. B. Lalchhanzova, the IPR & PS Department Minister, presented the awards and emphasized the importance of quality filmmaking that can positively influence audiences. He announced the upcoming ‘Lemchan – Mizo Film Festival’ from March 16–18 with support from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, aimed at promoting the Mizo film industry. The Minister highlighted the need for continuous learning, skill development, self-confidence, and perseverance for the Mizo film industry to succeed and meet the standards for National Awards.
