Local farmers in Shi Yomi district received fish seeds from Arunachal CM Khandu

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu gave fish seeds to local farmers in Shi Yomi district in a major step to support sustainable lives and increase fish production close to the Indo-China border. The Department of Fisheries is leading the effort, which aims to increase prospects for self-employment by promoting fish culture in isolated border areas. The distribution event was held at the well-known Trout Fish Farm in Dechenthang hamlet, which is near Mechuka town and around 30 kilometers from the India-China border.

Pasang Dorjee Sona, a local MLA and Minister, joined the Chief Minister in urging young people to pursue careers in fish farming and other agri-allied fields in order to become self-sufficient and guarantee high-quality local produce. In his speech, CM Khandu emphasized how aquaculture has the ability to revolutionize rural economies, particularly in border areas where job possibilities are few. “Fisheries can be an effective means of achieving independence. Instead of seeing it as a backup plan, our young people ought to see it as a career,” he said.

Lakra Dorjee Onge’s Trout Fish Farm in Dechenthang, India, has become a model for rural entrepreneurship. The farm supplies trout to Mechuka town, hotels, and homestays, thanks to state government support and local MLA. Onge expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s visit and hopes for additional assistance to increase productivity. IPS officer Rohit Rajbir Singh also praised the valley’s natural beauty.
