Lalduhoma Reviews Key Projects at Mi-PRAGATI Meet, Focus on Timely Implementation

Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma today chaired the second meeting of the Mizoram Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (Mi-PRAGATI), reviewing the progress of major development works and discussing steps to remove bottlenecks.The meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s Conference Hall in Aizawl. While several officials attended in person, others joined through video conferencing. The initiative, set up in August last year, aims to closely monitor key projects, improve coordination between departments and ensure timely delivery of public services.During the meeting, a range of infrastructure and welfare projects were taken up for review. One of the major projects discussed was the Aizawl Western Side Bypass Road. Officials informed that the project has achieved 19.56 per cent physical progress so far. However, several issues continue to affect the pace of work. These include land acquisition challenges, resettlement of families affected by the project, compensation demands from private quarry owners, and crop damage reported during construction. Concerns related to forest clearance and disposal of debris were also raised.

The Vairengte–Aizawl four-lane road project was also reviewed. Officials said that the issue of shifting electric power lines, which had been highlighted in the previous meeting, has now been resolved. The project, which has a total length of 90.110 km, includes a 60.295 km stretch planned under Greenfield alignment. Other pending challenges were discussed and possible solutions were suggested during the meeting.Education-related initiatives also came under focus. Under the PM SHRI scheme, 35 government schools in Mizoram have been selected for development. The implementation is planned in six phases. In the first phase, work has already started in 22 schools. The scheme aims to improve infrastructure and the overall learning environment in selected schools.Progress under the PMJVK scheme was also reviewed. A total of 104 projects have been approved in the state. Out of these, 84 projects have already been completed, while 18 are currently under implementation. Officials informed that some additional projects are still awaiting approval.

The meeting also took note of developments in the railway sector. Officials informed that a survey for the proposed Sairang–Thenzawl railway line is underway. The alignment up to Thenzawl has been finalised at the preliminary stage, marking an important step forward for railway connectivity in the state.Mi-PRAGATI has been designed as a platform to regularly track the progress of major projects and address issues at an early stage. The Chief Secretary serves as the Member Secretary of the initiative. Other members include Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners, and heads of various Central government departments and agencies working in Mizoram.The Chief Minister stressed the need for better coordination among departments and timely resolution of issues so that projects can be completed without delay. The meeting also highlighted the importance of ensuring that development works are carried out in a way that benefits people directly and avoids unnecessary hardship.
