The development of the crucial Jorhat-Dibrugarh Corridor is progressing swiftly, with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirming that work is in full swing on this vital infrastructure project. The 143-km-long corridor, designed to connect major towns such as Jorhat, Sivasagar, Demow, Moran, and Dibrugarh, aims to provide seamless connectivity with modern features.
The upgraded corridor will enhance access to key landmarks like the Digboi Refinery and streamline the movement of logistics critical for national security. Additionally, the project is expected to stimulate trade, industrialization, and employment opportunities across the region.
Divided into five sections, the project is 75% complete. Of the total stretch, 75.5 km will consist of four-lane roads, while the remaining 67.8 km will be two-lane. The infrastructure also includes 12 vehicular underpasses, 8 pedestrian underpasses, 2 major bridges, and a 4.2-km emergency landing strip.
