The JK Tyre-powered India Racing Festival concluded with roaring success in Mizoram on April 16, drawing thousands despite inclement weather. The festival, backed by GIG Motors and NEXA Aizawl, marked a milestone with the world’s first-ever car drift around the traditional Cheraw Dance, blending motorsport with local culture in a never-before-seen spectacle.

The event opened with thrilling performances by Mizo Superbikers and stunt riders Mrs. Awmawmi and Mr. Francis, followed by electrifying acts from India’s top motorsport talents—Sohil Shah (F4), Yatharth Gaur and Aarav Sureka (GoKarts), Sandeep Kumar (IRL), and seasoned stunt drivers like Ashwin Singh Takiar and Sanam Sekhon. Cultural performances by Mizo Idol Lalhmangaiha and rapper LiLZO added to the vibrant atmosphere.

JK Tyre Motorsports’ Head of Operations Hari Singh stated, “Mizoram’s passion and driving discipline are unmatched. We’re committed to nurturing motorsport talent here.” Chief Convener Lalfakzuala Hauzel thanked local partners, including Mizoram Police, Tourism Department, and Tuirial YMA. In Aizawl, the festival spurred a surge in youth interest in motorsports, boosting sales of performance gear, biking accessories, and branded merchandise. Local businesses reported increased footfall, hinting at motorsports’ commercial potential in the region.
