The students and team of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Guwahati celebrated India’s 77th Independence Day with the Missionaries of Charity, Jalukbari on the 14th of August, 2023. The Missionaries of Charity Sisters founded by Mother Teresa in 1950 in Calcutta, India has been dedicated to the service of the poor and needy irrespective of age, religion or social class. The Charity aims in the welfare of all destitute people and helpless neglected children.
“JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Guwahati has always been involved in social issues, planting trees and have been making generous donations to various charities, old age homes and orphanages over the years. Scholarships to meritorious students from financially unstable backgrounds have been offered to many students. This year also JD Guwahati felt the need to celebrate with the people most often forgotten and neglected”, as quoted by Sumita Dey Deka, Center Director, JD Institute of Fashion Technology.
The team and students of JD Institute of Fashion technology, Guwahati put forth a cultural function including dance performances, group song and play that have brought about many smiles to the young and old present. The Team and students also offered a generous donation in kind including edible food items like rice, pulses, oil, potato, onion, biscuits and many more. The students spend quality time with the elderly and children.The programme ended with a brief speech by Ushmita Dey, Director, JD Institute of Fashion Technology who said “Today has been another chapter to JD’s notable tradition. We wish to continue this legacy of creating smiles in the future as well.”
