As you all are aware that JCI, a leading global organization focused on community development and empowerment, is doing various social activities for the needy people of the society. JCI Guwahati Came up with its ambitious project, “Kanyadaan” community marriages aimed at promoting social acceptance, government schemes, and marriage registration. The project witnessed the union of 51 couples on 4th June at Sanganeria Dharamsala Fancy Bazar in presence of JFS MK Karthikeyan, the National President of JCI India, as the Chief Guest for the mega community marriages. Under the Presidentship of JFS Arun Sarawagi our chapter has solemnised marriages of 51 couples under “Kanyadaan”. Mentor JC Manish Goenka and JC Ramesh Chandak Vice President Program JFP Rekha Sarawgi Director Program JC Manisha Agarwal and JC Aarti Agarwal Convenors JC Priyanka Jain, JC Shashi Goyal, JC Neelam Agarwal , JC Nitin Agarwal ,JC Rajesh Mittal, JC Rishin Khemka and JFS Rahul Chamaria along with Secretary JC Dr. Ashim Choudhury and Treasurer Saurabh Lhila worked hard day and night for the grand success of this event of mass marriage .
Speaking on the occasion National President MK Karthikeyan said JCI is always working for the downtrodden people of the society. We have witnessed that people are either selling their land or gold for marrying their daughter for a minimum expenses of the marriage of about 3-5 Lacs. Here JCI Guwahati led by Arun Sarawagi and his team have performed the marriage of 51 couples by providing then few utensils, cloths, mosquito net, blankets and a bag along with bridal attire of bride and groom. We have also arranged food for more than 500 persons. Honorable MLA East Guwahati constituency Shri Siddhartha Bhattacharya, was the Inaugurator of this mass marriage and gave blessings to all the newly wedded couple. Along with MLA, Ward Councillor Pramod Swami and Councillor Saurav Jhunjhunwala and other prominent dignitaries were graced the occasion.
The primary objective of the “Kanyadaan” project is to foster social acceptance of marriages, irrespective of caste, creed, or economic backgrounds. By organizing a mass wedding event, JCI hopes to break barriers and encourage a society that embraces the diversity of love and relationships, said JCI Zone 25 President CA Bijay Kumar Agarwal. Furthermore, the project aims to raise awareness about various government schemes and benefits available for married couples. Through informative sessions and workshops, the participating couples will be guided on how to avail themselves of these schemes, ensuring a brighter future for themselves and their families.One of the highlights of the event will be the opportunity for couples to complete their marriage registration. Recognizing the importance of legal documentation, JCI has collaborated with local authorities to facilitate hassle-free registration procedures. This initiative aims to provide the couples with the legal recognition and protection they deserve.We extend our heartfelt Gratitude to all the donors who supported us for this noble cause and thanked all the members from various JCI Chapters.
