Facing a severe aging population, Japan has introduced AI-powered robots in nursing homes to assist with elderly care. These robots can perform routine tasks, monitor health, and even engage in light conversation to reduce loneliness.
The initiative is backed by the Ministry of Health and is being piloted in Tokyo and Osaka. Early results show improved care quality and reduced staff burnout.
With a growing elderly population in parts of South Asia as well, particularly in urban India and Sri Lanka, similar models could help fill the care gap.
