Itanagar hosts energetic K-Pop contest as regional rounds progress

The Itanagar regional round of the All India K-Pop Contest 2024 drew significant attention as K-Pop fans flocked to the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Hall. This event, part of a nationwide search for K-Pop talent, featured a vibrant display of performances from 77 participants selected from 415 online registrations.

In the dance category, ‘The Trend’ stole the show with a captivating routine to Stray Kids’ ‘God’s Menu,’ while Dorothi Hazarika emerged victorious in the vocal category with Ailee’s ‘I Will Go To You Like The First Snow.’ Both winners will advance to the semi-finals in New Delhi on October 19.The competition highlighted exceptional talent with ‘The Muse’ securing first runners-up in dance and ‘Lunette’ as second runners-up. In the vocal category, Dayum Apu and Miko were awarded first and second runners-up, respectively. Popular tracks included IU’s ‘Love Wins All’ and Le Sserafim’s ‘Fearless.’

The Itanagar event is part of a larger series of regional rounds, which have already taken place in Bengaluru, Kohima, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Upcoming rounds will be held in Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, and Lucknow. The grand finale will be held at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, on November 23, 2024, with winners receiving a trip to Korea. Hwang Il Yong, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre India, commended Itanagar’s enthusiasm and performance quality, noting the city’s strong affinity for K-Pop.
