International Women’s Day celebrated with women’s marathon in Itanagar

In advance of International Women’s Day, the Arunachal Pradesh Department of Women and Child Development held a marathon in Itanagar to honor womanhood and celebrate women’s empowerment. For senior and junior female competitors, there was a 5-kilometer fun run and a 10-kilometer marathon. Women of all ages participated in the race, which began at the DK Convention Centre in Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar. Chadan Tangjang, director of the Women and Child Development Department, and Nyali Ete, commissioner of the state’s Home, Information and Public Relations, and Women and Child Development departments, also participated in the marathon.

Besailu Pul won the tournament, followed by Yabang Tali and Albina Doley. The goal of the marathon, which will be followed by a cyclothon the following day, is to spread the message of women’s empowerment, Nyali Ete told the media. She encouraged women to keep looking for possibilities across industries, noting that they are becoming more and more successful in a variety of disciplines. In order to demonstrate their strength and potential, director Chadan Tangjang urged women to actively engage in sports and other activities. The event also functioned as a trial run marathon, according to Bahi Koyu, State Nodal Officer of the Mission Shakti project, who encouraged women to keep up their physical fitness.

She emphasized that the department is carrying out a number of welfare programs for women under the direction of Minister Dasanglu Pul. These include the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, which offers financial incentives to expectant mothers and nursing moms for their first and second live deliveries, and the One Stop Center Scheme for troubled women. Additionally, officials said that during International Women’s Day celebrations, the department will honor female achievers through the Women Achievers Award Scheme.
