Indus Towers Limited has launched an initiative to improve sanitation facilities for girls in government schools across seven districts in Assam. In collaboration with the Northeast Centre for Equity Action on Integrated Development (NEAID), the project was inaugurated by Assam’s Education Minister, Dr. Ranoj Pegu, at Nartap M.E. School in Kamrup Metro.
The initiative, part of Indus Towers’ Corporate Social Responsibility program “Pragati,” includes the installation of well-equipped and hygienic washrooms in 12 schools across Kamrup Metro, Nagaon, Morigaon, Baksa, Tamulpur, Dhubri, and Bongaigaon. This aligns with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, aimed at enhancing sanitation and promoting menstrual hygiene awareness among students.
Dr. Pegu stated the importance of sanitation for educational outcomes and encouraged support for more CSR initiatives in Assam. Dr. Om Prakash, Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha Assam, praised the project and urged other corporates to follow suit. MLA Atul Bora highlighted the positive impact of CSR programs on community development. Rajender Gurung, Circle CEO of Indus Towers, reiterated the commitment to providing essential infrastructure for a conducive learning environment.
