The recent situation in West Bengal seems to be the direst, On Monday the state health department reported 840 new infections. Over 500 people have been hospitalized, and two fatalities were reported in Kolkata on the day. The positivity rate has climbed from 10% to 12% in the last ten days. Most of the cases are been reported from Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Kolkata, Hooghly, and Murshidabad districts. Uttar Pradesh hasn’t been able to escape from the mosquito-borne disease either. As per the report, 12 people in Lucknow tested positive for dengue over the weekend, and several more await the test results.
Senior faculty of King George’s Medical University, Prof Kauser Usman said: “The next ten days are crucial as far as dengue is concerned, as cases may rise considerably. “Dengue infections in Delhi also increased significantly on Monday, reported with 129 positive cases. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s data shows that 525 cases have been reported so far this season, which is the highest in the last four years.
Hospital authorities have been asked to remain sharp eyes and should be prepared to treat dengue patients by government officials. As we know prevention is better than cure, mosquito repellants are recommended during the monsoon months.
