In Tripura, electric trains are probably going to start operating by February

According to officials on Monday, a major electrification project in the northeastern state is expected to be completed by February of this year, meaning that trains powered by electricity would likely start operating in Tripura. There are currently diesel-powered train engines in the state. Tripura will be connected to the national railway grid by the Rs 46-crore electrification project, which was started in 2022. By February, the state’s railways’ electric transmission line would be able to receive power from the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL), according to officials.

In the northeastern state, the North Eastern Railways (NFR) has already finished electrifying the route from Badarpur to Agartala via Dharmanagar. According to him, the substations at Teliamura and Udaipur are expected to be finished by February and this month, respectively. According to Guha, the Railways have requested 5 MW of power per substation every day, and more power might be provided if necessary. With the exception of the steep Lumding-Badarpur portion, the electrification work from Badarpur to Agartala via Dharmanagar is finished, according to Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR.
