Security personnel increased their operations in Manipur’s hill and valley regions, focusing especially on vulnerable and outlying communities. Large amounts of weapons and ammunition found during a recent search operation at Wabagai Natekhong Khulpali Ground in the Kakching District attest to the fact that the insurgency is being contained in this region of the nation.
The recovered items include one Sten Mk-V Rifle with two magazines, two 12-bore single-barrel rifles, two 9mm pistols with magazines, nine HE-36 hand grenades, one stun grenade, four arming rings, four tube launchers, 29 live ammunitions, 22 fired cases, three BP jacket vests, two magazine pouches and one Baofeng wireless set with charger. These were discovered during an extensive combing operation of the area, reflecting the zeal of security forces in keeping peace and order.
In addition to conducting searches, the security personnel made sure that necessities were transported around the state. Up to 87 cars on NH-37 and 116 cars on NH-2 were securely accompanied, and all the weak points were fortified with tight security measures. A total of 113 people have been detained for infractions since 101 Nakas and checkpoints have been erected in several areas to increase security.
