IIT Kanpur and the Kotak Mahindra Bank announced the launch of Kotak School of Sustainability

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) and Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (KMBL) have launched the Kotak School of Sustainability, India’s first fully integrated school of sustainability. The school aims to address global warming’s threat to our existence, addressing natural calamities, pollution, and biodiversity loss. The school will be funded by KMBL through its CSR program, promoting pedigree education, research, and outreach. The school will bring together departments and centers of excellence at IITK to provide an enabling environment for collaborative research across multiple facets of sustainability.

The Kotak School of Sustainability will have dedicated centers covering aspects such as clean energy, environment, ecology, circular economy, climate finance, sustainable societies, and policy. The school will be led by tenured professors and leading industry experts from around the world. It will run undergraduate and postgraduate academic and skill-building programs in different themes of sustainability.

The school will be housed in a green building on IITK’s main campus, which will be platinum-rated with net zero practices on energy, water, and waste. Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, India, praised Kotak Mahindra Bank for contributing to the establishment of the Kotak School of Sustainability.
