IBM Reveals Hybrid Cloud Approach Is Critical To Unlock The Power Of Generative AI

A new global survey from IBM revealed that in India,64% of hybrid cloud users have a formal, organization-wide policy and/or approach for the use of Generative AI (GenAI). Hybrid cloud adoption is being hindered by barriers related to data privacy and confidentiality.

Cloud leaders are concerned about the potential benefits of GenAI, but workforce skills deficiencies are also affecting the implementation. Hybrid cloud is essential for managing sustainability initiatives at an enterprise level, but the challenges are exacerbated by concerns about data privacy and confidentiality.

The IBM Cloud Transformation Report 2023, commissioned by IBM Institute for Business Value and Harris Poll, aims to help organizations map their cloud transformation and self-classify progress. Surveyed over 3,000 IT and business decision-makers from 12 countries and 23 industries, the report found that 68% of Indian decision-makers face challenges in cloud skills, 60% cite security or compliance as reasons for workload moves, and 49% believe sustainability drives digital transformation strategies. Viswanath Ramaswamy, Vice President – Technology, IBM India & South Asia commented, “It is heartening to see that about 85% of respondents have said they are creating new job positions to fulfil the need for cloud skills in this Generative AI era.”
