As vulnerable communities in India continue to suffer outsized effects of climate change, IBM is empowering innovators with cutting-edge technologies and training. Ahead of COP28, IBM announced the latest investments in its effort to advance environmental sustainability through its social impact programs. IBM Sustainability Accelerator will scale water solutions for local communities in India, in collaboration with The University of Chicago Trust. A unique sustainability skills roadmap, available for free through IBM SkillsBuild, will also aid future climate action.
IBM is partnering with The University of Chicago Trust in India to develop water management solutions as part of its Sustainability Accelerator program. The initiative, which will invest $30 million until 2025, aims to address climate change impacts in areas with 3.3 billion people. The project will use IBM technologies and an ecosystem of experts.
The program supports sustainable agriculture and clean energy efforts globally. Justina Nixon-Saintil, IBM Vice President & Chief Impact Officer said, “With nearly half of the global population vulnerable to significant environmental distress, new strategies to help create a sustainable future are essential.”
