“I am not Donald Trump. I can’t see my people suffering,” Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray is heard saying in a teaser of his interview with MP and Shiv Sena Sanjay Raut. The teaser is part of the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s interview for Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece “Saamana”.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said he is aware of the problems arising because of the lockdown, but added that he cannot let his people suffer due to the deadly coronavirus.
The interview of Uddhav Thackeray will be released in two parts on the weekend.
Uddhav Thackeray’s comment comes in response Sanjay Raut asks him when ‘vada pav’ will be again available on the streets of Mumbai. As Sanjay Raut says the people of Maharashtra are now fed up of lockdown, Uddhav Thackeray says they have started easing restrictions.
The Maharashtra CM, however, adds that the lockdown is still in place.
Uddhav Thackeray goes on to say that he is not Donald Trump, who has been crticised for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic in the US.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had earlier this week said the WHO had taken note of containment of coronavirus in Mumbai as he praised the efforts taken to tackle Covid-19.
The CM had instructed BMC officials to remain alert to bring down the graph of COVID-19 cases in the city as a second wave of the disease is being predicted world over.
