Hmar militants surrender in Assam 

On Wednesday, nine militants of the Hamar People’s Convention Democracy (HPC-D) group surrendered with arms and explosives in Assam’s Cachar district.

Cachar District Superintendent of Police, Numal Mahatta, said, “There is a discussion under the supervision of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and yesterday’s surrender is just the beginning of a bigger surrender”.

The government and administration are trying to fulfill their demands and bring them back into the mainstream. . After surrendering, they get special identity cards through which they get their guaranteed privileges.

Reports also state that HPC-D militants are active in many neighboring areas. Soon these militants may surrender and join the mainstream. Since January, nine have surrendered so far.
