Hinduja College eyes deemed university status; VP Dhankhar urges corporate investment in education

Hinduja College of Commerce is set to become a deemed university, marking a significant milestone in its 75-year journey. At the anniversary event, Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, called on corporate India to invest in education, emphasizing that philanthropy should not be driven by commercialization. He stressed that education is a key transformative tool for equality and urged the integration of Sanatan values for inclusivity.

Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Foundation, announced that the college would expand student capacity and introduce specialized programs in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Climate Finance, and Export-Import Management. The college is undergoing redevelopment, with a multi-storied facility set for completion by 2028. Hinduja Foundation, which currently nurtures over 700,000 students, aims to empower one million by 2030 through various educational initiatives.

Granted NAAC A+ accreditation and autonomous status under NEP 2020, Hinduja College’s transformation aligns with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. The event also saw Maharashtra Governor Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan in attendance, with Vice President Dhankhar felicitating outstanding students.
