Himanta Biswa Sarma attacks Kejriwal over liquor scam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a sharp attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, calling him a “lying machine” and accusing him of excelling in “Dramabaazi” (drama) and “Daarubaazi” (alcohol-related scandals). Sarma’s remarks came amid Kejriwal’s legal troubles linked to the Delhi liquor policy scam, which led to his arrest and subsequent imprisonment. Addressing a gathering in Delhi as part of the upcoming election campaign, Sarma criticized Kejriwal’s conduct following his release from jail.”Kejriwal did not go to jail fighting for the country’s freedom; he went to jail for stealing liquor. When someone is jailed for such crimes, they usually feel ashamed. But Kejriwal has done a double PhD in ‘Dramabaazi’ and ‘Daarubaazi’,” Sarma said.

The Assam Chief Minister further escalated his attack by referring to Kejriwal as a “goon” over allegations involving his personal aide, Bibhav Kumar. Kumar was accused of physically assaulting Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal at the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence. “A goon like Arvind Kejriwal, who can beat up his own MP at his residence—have you ever seen such a big goon? He is the biggest goon in India,” Sarma remarked.

Sarma also took a dig at the AAP government’s flagship healthcare initiative, the Mohalla Clinic model, questioning its efficiency. He argued that instead of makeshift healthcare centers, the government should prioritize building medical colleges to strengthen the healthcare system in Delhi.”He boasts about the Mohalla Clinic, calling it the best health model in the country. But why are hospitals being built on footpaths? Shouldn’t we be focusing on establishing medical colleges for better healthcare?” Sarma asked.
