Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has partnered with the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of Assam to help upgrade its healthcare infrastructure. To accomplish this, the company has set up a state-of-the-art 18-bedded intensive care unit (ICUwith all the latest equipment to handle most emergencies attheMoinakhurung Model Hospital in Kamrup(Rural) districtofAssam.
This initiative is a part of Project Aarogya, which is implemented under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform ‘Hero WeCare’ and is focused on strengthening healthcare delivery at the grassroots. Hero MotoCorp’s Project Aarogya aims to make quality and affordable healthcare accessible for populations in rural areas. The company has partnered with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to set up Satellite Vision Centres. These centres focus on providing primary eyecare services to rural communities.
Hero MotoCorp also runs mobile medical vans/units to ensure that medical help reaches marginalised communities in areas with minimal or negligible healthcare facilities.Inaugurating the ICU, Shri Keshab Mahanta, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Science and Technology and Information Technology, Government of Assam, said, “With this newly built facility in the suburbs of an important district, the company is supporting the larger vision of the government to make quality healthcare accessible in the hinterlands.”
