In a bid to address the escalating prevalence of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), the Government of Assam has joined forces with Tricog Health to roll out the Heart Health Management (STEMI) program. This pioneering initiative aims to revolutionize preventive cardiac care across the state, marking a significant step towards mitigating the burden of heart-related ailments. The Heart Health Management program introduces a groundbreaking Hub and Spoke model, focusing on rapid diagnosis and treatment of severe heart cases throughout Assam. Driven by the pressing need for improved cardiac health, the program’s launch underscores the government’s dedication to proactive health management.
In its initial phase, the program conducted a successful pilot implementation study in ten selected health facilities within Kamrup Metropolitan district. Dr. Pranab Jyoti Bhattacharya, Head of Cardiology at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), hailed the program’s launch, emphasizing its potential to reach even the remotest corners of the state. Cardiovascular diseases pose a significant public health challenge globally, with Assam grappling with their adverse effects as well. According to the 2018 Assam State Health Profile, CVDs accounted for a substantial proportion of deaths in the state, underscoring the urgency of interventions like the Heart Health Management Program.
The program’s impact is already evident, with a 46-year-old female beneficiary receiving prompt diagnosis and specialized care after experiencing a severe heart attack at Sonapur District Hospital. Leveraging Tricog Health’s technology, the program ensures rapid detection and timely intervention, significantly improving patient outcomes. The Heart Health Management program is underpinned by Tricog Health’s cutting-edge technology, facilitating quick detection through cloud-connected 12 Lead ECGs and round-the-clock interpretation by medical experts. This digital platform enables seamless care coordination and data analytics, enhancing the efficiency of cardiac care services.
