Haircare Tips to get rid of dandruff in Winter

Dandruff occurs in winter when people spend most of their time indoors due to which dry and warm air affects the skin. This causes a dry scalp that feels extremely itchy and flaky.   1. Avocado hair mask
    Avocado has the ability to add moisture that keeps hair silky and soft. Rich in fatty acids and essential vitamins C, D, E and B6, avocado is a treat for hair and provides a healthy and dandruff-free scalp.

How to prepare: Take a ripe avocado and mash it thoroughly to make a paste. Now add two tablespoons of olive oil and honey and mix the paste well. Apply it vigorously on your washed hair and leave it for 30 minutes. Wash off with mild shampoo.

  1. Egg and curd hair mask
    Egg and curd combined to make a paste for hair acts as a great conditioner and does wonders for hair and scalp. This combination not only removes dandruff from the scalp but also balances the pH level, prevents hair fall and makes the hair shiny and smooth.

How to prepare: Take two egg yolks (for dry hair) and 2 whole egg whites (for oily hair). Mix one cup of yogurt, two tablespoons of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix the paste well and apply it on the scalp and hair. Leave it for about 20 to 30 minutes and then wash off with regular shampoo.

  1. Fenugreek and lemon juice hair pack
    Packed with essential nutrients that promote healthy hair, prevent hair loss, rejuvenate damaged hair and control scalp inflammation. Moreover, it stimulates the blood flow to the scalp which provides nutrients to the hair follicles and promotes faster hair growth.

How to make: To make this hair mask, soak two spoons of fenugreek seeds overnight and make a paste with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice in the morning. Mix the paste, apply it on the hair and leave it for 30 minutes. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo.

  1. Curd and honey hair pack
    A powerhouse of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, yogurt and honey act as natural moisturizers and help rehydrate and repair damaged hair. The anti-fungal properties of honey and curd help in getting rid of dandruff in hair and scalp.

How to prepare: Take two tablespoons of curd and add few drops of fresh lemon juice to it and mix one tablespoon of honey. Make a fine paste and apply it on the roots and lengths of the hair and leave it for 30 minutes. Wash with regular shampoo.

  1. Banana and apple cider vinegar hair pack
    Rich in vitamin B, bananas help maintain blood circulation in the scalp and hair health. On the other hand, apple cider vinegar kills the bacteria present on the scalp and prevents dandruff.

How to prepare: Blend two bananas with two tablespoons of curd and strain the paste into a bowl. Now, add 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar to the paste and mix properly. Apply and leave the hair mask for about 2 hours. A mild shampoo will wash it off.
