Guwahati residents are willing to sacrifice luxuries for better health insurance coverage due to the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the importance of a health-focused lifestyle. The pandemic has impacted behavior, such as technology usage, diet monitoring, and regular exercise. Aditya Birla Health Insurance Company Ltd, a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Capital Limited, is a major financial services conglomerate.

ABHICL’s survey in 19 cities, including Guwahati, found that 79% of respondents in Guwahati believe their awareness of health and wellness issues has increased post-COVID-19, compared to 84% nationally. The pandemic has emphasized financial planning and health insurance, leading to a shift from reactive to proactive care.

 Mayank Bathwal, CEO of Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co Ltd, said that COVID has helped consumers realize the strain on finances and life savings caused by health emergencies. This has led to an increase in demand for health insurance plans, with those without insurance seeking higher coverage or sum insured.Guwahati prioritizes financial preparedness, health insurance, exercise, and mental health awareness. The city aims to create a supportive environment by educating the public and reducing fear and shame associated with seeking help.
