A total of 197 candidates are contesting in 57 wards, while BJP candidates have already been elected unopposed in three wards.
Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are being used in all wards under GMC for the first time.
A total of 7,96,829 voters with 3,96,891 males, 3,99,911 females and 27 third genders are eligible to exercise their franchise.
Votes will be counted on April 24.
