Govt Pushes Tech-Driven Education in Post-Garment Economy

Bangladesh has introduced a national curriculum integrating basic coding and computational thinking from Class 6 onwards, aiming to prepare its youth for the digital economy. The move comes as the country eyes a transition from a garments-based export economy to IT services.

Education Minister Dipu Moni said the initiative would “equip future generations with tools to compete globally.” Students will begin learning Python, web development, and data logic, even in rural government schools.

Ed-tech firms in India have hailed the step, suggesting collaboration between SAARC countries for curriculum exchange and joint training. Bangladesh’s model could inspire regional governments to expand digital literacy efforts in schools.
