Representatives from twenty nations gathered in the heart of India’s capital today for the ‘India Summit on Education Knowledge Exchange,’ facilitated by the World Bank. The summit, aimed at fostering global collaboration in education and skill development, saw fervent discussions revolving around India’s pioneering initiative, Skill India Digital (SID).
Skill India Digital, launched by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) on September 13, 2023, has emerged as a beacon of success in integrating skill development, education, employment, and entrepreneurship efforts. With over 40 lakh registrations in the last six months and offering more than 550 courses, SID has garnered international attention for its efficacy in empowering India’s youth. The summit provided a platform for delegates to glean insights from India’s skill ecosystem and explore avenues for implementing similar initiatives in their respective countries. Shri. Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of MSDE, emphasized the importance of technology in advancing skill development, stating, “Capability and knowledge will be the key pillars of success.”
Mr. Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), highlighted SID’s role in propelling India’s economy forward and facilitating access to relevant skill courses for learners across the country. He underscored the platform’s inclusivity by offering courses in multiple Indian languages and introducing features like Digitally Verified Credentials and Skill India Map.
