Glenmark and API launch “National BP Screening Day” to address youth hypertension

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited, in partnership with the Association of Physicians of India (API), launched the “Take Charge @ 18” campaign at the Gateway of India, designating the 18th of every month as “National BP Screening Day.” This initiative focuses on promoting early blood pressure monitoring, emphasizing that adults should start checking their blood pressure at 18.

The campaign commenced with an engaging two-hour 3D video projection, effectively reaching over 100,000 healthcare professionals through live streaming. Glenmark aims to educate 10 crore Indians about hypertension, addressing the alarming rise of the condition among youth. An ICMR study highlights a 35.5% hypertension prevalence among Indians aged 20 and above, underlining the urgency of this initiative.

Agartala has observed increased consumer awareness regarding health. Vendors report a growing interest among young adults in health screenings, aligning with Glenmark’s mission to empower individuals to prioritize their cardiovascular health. With over 50 youth awareness programs and 900 nationwide rallies, Glenmark is committed to achieving significant reductions in hypertension rates by 2025, reinforcing the necessity of proactive health management.
