The two-day second Women’s 20 (W20) international meeting (13-14 April) began in Rajasthan’s Jaipur. The meeting saw deliberations on the key issues of promoting gender equality and economic empowerment of women at the global level. The meeting witnessed participation from about 120 women delegates from 18 countries. The W-20 is an official partnership group of the G-20.
The theme of the W20 Meet is ‘Unleash the Untapped Potential of Women-Led Development: Building an Inclusive and Sustainable Future’. The agenda of the two-day meeting focuses on five key priorities: women entrepreneurship, grassroots women leadership, bridging the gender digital divide, education and skill development, and climate change. On the first day, Women-20 Innovation, Mission Digital Women, Financial and Digital Literacy, and Skilling Program initiatives were launched.
The inaugural session was addressed by Dr. Shamika Ravi (Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister), Indeevar Pandey (Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development), Usha Sharma (Chief Secretary), and G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant. The first meeting of Women 20 (W20) under G20 was held at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra on 27-28 February.
