‘Friends’ actor Matthew Perry dies at 54

Actor Matthew Perry was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Saturday, October 28. According to the Los Angeles Times, the 54-year-old was found unresponsive in his hot tub. Local police are investigating and the cause of death is currently unknown. A source was quoted as telling the publication that no foul play is suspected. Since news of the sitcom star’s untimely death broke, Perry’s acting colleagues have been paying tribute, along with fans around the world.

A household name in Hollywood, Perry is best known for playing the ever-sarcastic, yet lovable character Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom Friends. The actor, who holds dual citizenship between the United States and Canada, played the iconic role for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004. Perry enjoyed a career on the big screen, starring in films such as The Whole Nine Yards [2000] and 17 Again [2009]. The actor releases his much-anticipated memoir, Friends, Lovers and The Big Terrible Thing, in 2022. In the best-seller, Perry opened up about her highly documented battle with addiction, detailing her difficult journey through rehab, interventions and multiple surgeries after her lifestyle began to deteriorate.
