Four members of the same family died in a terrible road accident on Mathabhanga Jamaldah State Highway. Three others were seriously injured in the incident. According to local sources, seven passengers were going to Jamaldah in a toto in the Paikar Tari area of Gopalpur village panchayat on state road number 16 from Mathabhanga to Jamaldah at around 12.30 o’clock yesterday night. At that time, a truck hit the toto from behind and the toto fell into the ditch on the side of the road.
Basanti Barman (40) died on the spot. When the injured were first sent to Jamaldah Hospital, doctors declared three others Menka Barman (35), Mansi Barman (12) and Anita Barman (32) dead. Prashant Barman (40) along with two 9-year-old children Abhijit Barman, Ravi Barman and Prashant Burman (40) are under treatment in the hospital with serious injuries in this terrible road accident.
