According to investigators from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) examining the case of Talo Potom, the former Deputy Commissioner of the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR), Potom is currently evading arrest, prompting intensified search efforts. SIT Superintendent of Police Shivendu Bhushan confirmed that investigative activities are ongoing, covering various angles, though he noted it would be premature to provide detailed updates on the case’s progress. On January 23, the Itanagar Permanent Bench of the Gauhati High Court revoked Potom’s bail, which had been granted on November 4 after he was initially remanded to 14 days of judicial detention following his arrest on October 27. Prior to his detention, Potom had been reassigned to work as a Special Secretary for the Public Works Department (PWD) in New Delhi. His arrest is linked to the suicide of 19-year-old Gomchu Yekar on October 23, 2025, in Lekhi village, who implicated Potom and deceased engineer Likwang Lowang in his suicide note. Potom faces charges of aiding and abetting suicide under sections 108, 271, and 272/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is still ongoing.
