Forest officials recover body parts of wild animals’ skins, 4 arrested

In Assam’s Nagaon district, forest officials discovered the remains of several wild animals, including the skins of two leopards.

Nagaon forest department authorities launched a raid in Doboka Namati and Kanpur areas on Wednesday and found the skins of two leopards as well as a few pangolins.

The forest officials arrested four people named Abdul Rahman, Afaz Uddin, Samed Ali and Nizam Uddin for their involvement in the crime.

Forest officials accused the trio of smuggling rhino horns near Kaziranga National Park.

Assam’s Orang National Park was the site of a case earlier this year of poachers using tranquillizers to remove rhino horns, presenting a new challenge to the state’s forest department for one-horned rhino conservation.

According to reports, poachers in the national park dehorned a sub-adult rhinoceros without killing it.
.
On May 9, park officials learned of the incident and found a 10-12-year-old horned sub-adult male rhino in the Muwamari section of the park.
