Flipkart Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Flipkart Group, has partnered with Goonj to roll out ‘Udaan: Empowered by Flipkart Foundation’, a multi-state grassroots initiative aimed at improving menstrual wellbeing and driving environmental sustainability. The initiative is set to directly benefit over 18,700 women across Assam, Karnataka, Odisha, and West Bengal, while digitally engaging more than 5 lakh individuals.
Udaan operates on the Four-A framework—Access, Awareness, Affordability, and Action—providing women with menstrual health education, upcycled cloth sanitary pads (‘MY Pads’), and a platform to lead local change. With 225 ‘Chuppi Todo Baithaks’ and 18 exhibitions, the campaign seeks to normalize menstrual health discussions and reduce textile waste.
In Dibrugarh, the initiative is expected to catalyze positive market trends. Local NGOs and community health workers anticipate a rise in demand for sustainable sanitary solutions. Stakeholders view Udaan as a potential model for integrating women’s health and green business practices, aligning with broader ESG goals. Flipkart’s Sarah Gideon emphasized, “This is about voice, dignity, and sustainable access.” Goonj co-founder Meenakshi Gupta highlighted the human dimension of menstrual health. Udaan marks a strategic step in fusing social impact with environmental responsibility.
