In a series of coordinated operations across Manipur, joint security forces arrested five active insurgents affiliated with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) on May 30 in Tengnoupal district, while arms and equipment were recovered from forested regions in Churachandpur. Acting on intelligence inputs, security personnel launched a cordon-and-search operation in Gangpijang village under Moreh sub-division, resulting in the arrest of three PLA and two KCP cadres. The arrested individuals were identified as Nepram Jiten (20), Arambam Malemnganba (32), Sanasam Henthoiba Singh (18), Leitanthem Rikanda Meitei (24), and Maibam Vishal Meitei (26). One mobile phone was seized from them.
In a parallel operation in the Dampi Hill forest area near H. Kotlian under Churachandpur district, forces recovered a significant cache of arms and equipment, including three country-made 12-bore single-barrel shotguns, one pumpi firearm, a smoke candle device, bulletproof jacket, two helmets, a radio set, and chargers. These findings underscore the presence of insurgent hideouts in remote forested areas. On May 29, another KCP (PWG) cadre, Sapam Dhanajit Singh (42), was apprehended from Yumnam Huidrom under Wangoi Police Station in Imphal West. He was allegedly involved in extortion targeting civilians. Recovered items included a mobile phone, ₹270 in cash, and identity documents.
Separately, Manipur Police arrested Md. Zahir Khan Maraimayum (19) from Thoubal district in connection with a case under the POCSO Act.
