Police teams from the Banderdewa and Naharlagun police stations in Arunachal Pradesh arrested five drug dealers, confiscated two automobiles used for drug trafficking, and seized 140.15 grams of suspected heroin. In the first operation, a squad from Naharlagun PS under the command of Inspector Krishnendu Dev carried out a raid in the Prem Nagar area based on intelligence. Md. Sariful Islam, 36, of Bihpuria, Assam, had 48.7 grams of heroin on him. Md. Shaik Farid, 24, of Lakhimpur, and Md. Ashraful Islam, 23, of Laluk, Assam, from Kankarnallah, were arrested after a short pursuit. Additionally, a Bajaj motorcycle used for smuggling and 24 grams of heroin were found.
Following a tip, Banderdewa PS pulled over a Maruti SX4 at the Banderdewa Check Gate at the same moment. Techi Maj, 27, of Lekhi, and Miss Kirry Riba, 23, of Nirjuli, were taken into custody by the special squad. In Riba, they also found 66.75 grams of heroin. Both operations were carried out under the supervision of SDPO Naharlagun Rishi Longdo, IPS, and SP Naharlagun Mihin Gambo. Various cases have been filed under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
