First Female Mayor Takes Charge In Itanagar

 Itanagar marked a historic moment on Monday as Likha Nari Tadar, a BJP corporator from Ward No. 16, took oath as the first woman Mayor of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC). Along with her, Tok Tabin Camdir, the corporator from Ward No. 19, was sworn in as the Deputy Mayor during the inaugural meeting of the newly elected civic body. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja and Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso. Congratulating the new leadership and corporators, Minister Raja called on them to work with honesty, commitment, and a sense of responsibility. He stressed the need for the IMC to strengthen its own revenue sources rather than relying only on government schemes, noting that financial stability is crucial for effective development at the ward level.

The Minister also highlighted key areas that require immediate attention, including sanitation, waste management, road and drainage infrastructure, transparency in governance, and prompt grievance redressal.Thanking the people for their support, Mayor Likha Nari Tadar said her main focus would be on improving urban infrastructure, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring efficient municipal services across all wards of the city.
